Why Clearcoat Is Essential

Clearcoat is required to achieve both the correct finish and a true color match. It forms a protective barrier over the paint, shielding it from UV rays, rain, chemicals, and other environmental damage.

Every modern vehicle—glossy or matte—includes a clearcoat layer. Without it, the final look won’t match your car’s original finish.

Our kits include the right type of clearcoat based on your vehicle's color and finish. Whether your car has a glossy or matte look, the clearcoat in your kit is selected to ensure optimal protection and a seamless color match.

All TouchUpDirect kits come with 1K Clearcoat, a user-friendly, air-dry formula that requires no mixing or special equipment.

Important: Not for Exhaust Systems

Our 1K Clearcoat is not recommended for use on exhaust systems. While some 1K formulas claim high-heat resistance, they are not designed to withstand the extreme temperatures exhaust parts can reach. For those applications, a high-temperature, automotive-grade coating is required.

TouchUpDirect also offers high-performance 2K Clearcoat in aerosol spray and professional sizes; however, it is not a high-temperature paint.
