What is TricoatUpdated 4 days ago
TouchUpDirect Tricoat paint includes two Colorcoat applicators: a Basecoat and a Midcoat. This extra layer is what makes Tricoat more expensive than standard paint.
What Is Tricoat?
Tricoat colors—like pearl whites and candy reds—use a special two-step color system:
Basecoat for the main color
Midcoat for added depth, sparkle, or glow
This is followed by a Clearcoat to finish.
What’s Included in a Tricoat Kit
When you order a Tricoat Kit, you’ll receive the following:
Essential Kit:
1 Basecoat
1 Midcoat
1 Clearcoat
Preferred and Platinum Kits:
1 Primer
1 Basecoat
1 Midcoat
1 Clearcoat
Why It Matters
Tricoat create effects that a single color layer can’t. That’s why they cost more both from the factory and when doing a touch-up.
Special Note
Some Tricoat use a waterborne Basecoat and a urethane Midcoat. This is by design and ensures a better color match.
