The clearcoat provides the gloss on a paint job and is the protective coating designed to withstand the elements. Clearcoat is required to achieve the proper color match.

TUD Clearcoat is UV and chemical resistant and is an essential step in a successful paint repair.

1. Hold the container with the black brush cap pointing up. Twist to open. Remove excess paint by lightly dragging the brush along the inside opening as you remove it from the container.
2. Prior to the first coat, and between all additional dried coats, use a TUD Tack Cloth to wipe away any dust contaminants. Lightly dab the clearcoat onto the area to be painted. Do not use a drawing or rubbing motion as if using a marker; simply dab the clearcoat on. Cover the area thoroughly and allow it to dry for 15 minutes between coats. Repeat this process applying 2-3 coats of clearcoat. Do not exceed 4 coats.
3. Allow to dry for 48 hours before polishing.

We do not generally recommend wetsanding the clearcoat on small touch up repairs. With smaller types of repairs handled by a touch up pen or touch up brush it is often very easy to accidentally sand through the clearcoat and coloroat, requiring you to redo the project.
